Second Order Ancillary is Rotation Based

چکیده

The present work concerns the second order ancillary determined by the tangent directions V = ∂y/∂θ|{y0; θ̂(y0)} at the observed data y 0 for fixed pivotal value, by using the structural approach of Fraser (1986). We show that for scalar parameter case, such an approximate ancillary is well defined and can be described as a rotation. These second order ancillaries are particularly useful in providing access to higher order approximations of p-values and conditional density of the model in a neighborhood of the observed data. More precisely, Fraser (1988) revealed that accurate inference can obtained by using only the tangent directions to a second order ancillary, thus avoiding its exact specification. Our approach uses V vectors as introduced by Fraser & Reid (1995, 2001), which require a coordinate-by-coordinate pivotal variable, always available.

The second order ancillary is rotation based

This paper concerns the approximate ancillary needed for higher order asymptotic likelihood inference. The existence of an exact or approximate ancillary is the key to such inference. The exact ancillary is, however, only available for transformation model and an approximate ancillary is typically very difficult to find. Fraser (1988) revealed that the high order inference can be obtained by us...

Ancillaries and Third Order Signiicance

SUMMARY For a variable and parameter of the same dimension, the tangent exponential model (Fraser, 1988) approximates an asymptotic model to third order in a rst derivative neighbourhood of the data point and to second order otherwise. For the more usual case of a variable of larger dimension than the parameter, we obtain a unique expression for the third order ancillary distribution as project...

Contours Extraction Using Line Detection and Zernike Moment

Most of the contour detection methods suffers from some drawbacks such as noise, occlusion of objects, shifting, scaling and rotation of objects in image which they suppress the recognition accuracy. To solve the problem, this paper utilizes Zernike Moment (ZM) and Pseudo Zernike Moment (PZM) to extract object contour features in all situations such as rotation, scaling and shifting of object i...

Simple and accurate one-sided inference from signed roots of likelihood ratios

The authors propose two methods based on the signed root of the likelihood ratio statistic for one-sided testing of a simple null hypothesis about a scalar parameter in the presence of nuisance parameters. Both methods are third-order accurate and utilise simulation to avoid the need for onerous analytical calculations characteristic of competing saddlepoint procedures. Moreover, the new method...

Stochastic Unit Commitment in the Presence of Demand Response Program under Uncertainties

In this paper, impacts of various uncertainties such as random outages of generating units and transmission lines, forecasting errors of load demand and wind power, in the presence of Demand response (DR) programs on power generation scheduling are studied. The problem is modelled in the form of a two-stage stochastic unit commitment (UC) which by solving it, the optimal solutions of UC as well...
